[Before and After] A Tie-Front Shirt Becomes a High-Low Top

This animal print top lurked in my closet unworn for years. Yet something has always stopped me short from donating it. I decided to give it some attention to figure out what features I liked and what wasn’t working. I like the cut–it’s boxy and hits in at a good length–but I realized the tie-front feature on the top was why I wasn’t wearing it. It just wasn’t my style and made the shirt look messy. This is an easy sewing fix; it took 15 minutes. Here are the steps:

  1. Pin up the new hemline
  2. Cut off the excess fabric, including tie
  3. Fold over the new hemline and close it up with a single stitch line
